Pratico King Storage Bed with Gas Lift

Bed is really great for storage - The company has been in close contact and helped out with any questions and has taken my observations and suggestions for future improvement to heart and submitted them to engineering and production for product improvement - I had originally given a 4-star review but now changed it to a 5-star review for reasons of customer service and it being a good product but needing future improvement to go from good to STELLAR.

I'm leaving the original comments in below (slightly modified/expanded) for any future assembly notes for people to help in the assembly of the current product.

Things to improve:
- Manual says 2 people and 30-45 min assembly - No way! Count on needing at least an 1 hour for 1 person to unbox and lay out everything and check out the presence and count of all the different hardware... after that you can split tasks, but it assumes 1 person knows the assembly and directs the other - I did it myself and had help lifting and placing/aligning bigger/heavier items, which still resulted in 4 hours of assembly (so 5 hours total!)
- The online manual is incorrect compared to the one shipped with the product (at least it was for me)! No such thing as “W” washers… I urge any customer to check which washer-bag they have .. "F" or "W".. whichever one go with the manual that references the washers that came in the shipment.
- Not enough “F” washers - also the recommendation of 3 washers for the headboard screws is excessive - I made it work with just 2 washers that provided most of the missing "F" washers
- Wooden cross-slats were full of mill-dust and could stand to be a higher quality wood or at least be dusted/blown off prior to shipment - recommend customer blow or wipe/wash them off first.
- Wooden bedframe is wider than metal-frame, so the supports installed in the last step are not thick/wide enough to actually provide any support to the frame!! Engineers got the dimensioning and stack-up wrong or the metal frame is at least 1-in too narrow!! This is noteworthy as it will require you to skip this step (nothing will rest on the wood), OR if you are handy, to fabricate a different kind of wider and vertically-supported lateral support - your (customer) call!
- You really should have pilot-/placement-holes pre-marked/-drilled for many of the screws that go onto the sideboards - effort to install using the self-tapping wood-screws simply extremely taxing for a normal human.
- You need to do a better job of labelling the 4 long metal frame pieces that form the internal and side parts of the metal frame s there is a lot of ways to get their placement and up/dn fwd/Rev alignment wrong!
- Make sure you have an electric screwdriver (with settable clutch release) or you’ll destroy your wrists installing the 100+ screws
- The U-shaped metal piece resting on the floor and placed in line with the wooden mid-bed stabilizing piece is TOO SHORT - it seems that the metal frame piece widths are off by at least 1” - see comment above about wooden side-pieces not wide enough to provide frame-support in last assembly step!! Customer service suggested that this piece might not really serve a real purpose anymore and can be left out make sure you check with them as this is baed on the piece that is too short - they might change that so be aware.

This bed is beautiful and was easy to put together.

We live in a small 1 bedroom apartment but did not want to compromise on having a kingsize bed. The Expand solution was perfect as we have a solid wood KS bed with a huge amount of useful storage. It was quickly constructed and the deliverymen were able to walk it up 4 stories of steps with ease. Highly recommended for any apartment or home dweller looking for a classy solid bed with the added functionality of storage.

I am shocked! I didn’t think this type of quality and service exited anymore. I could not be more pleased with our bed and the storage feature is so easy to operate and made our downsizing so much less of a problem.

The bed is very beautiful and seems sturdy. My previous bed cracked in numerous places so I am super alert to the issue of craftsmanship. It is a bit taller than expected, especially with a thick mattress, but that gives it a lofty look. The space inside has resolved my condo clutter.
